Importing the complete HSN Codes List as Inventory Groups

I was wondering if this can be done or not? Mostly we all have this list of HSN Codes in pdf or other formats as downloaded from GST Portal or other websites. We can get this list in excel format too.

Is there any way to import this complete list in Tally which will automatically generate Inventory groups with all the mandatory data e.g. HSN Codes, GST Rate etc? In a more elaborated way, say I have an excel file containing the HSN Codes and Descriptions and GST Rates (columnwise) of all the chapters as per the GST Act.
Can we directly import this list, using TDL, so that the "Description" column's values becomes "Inventory Groups" and the corresponding data of HSN and GST Rate gets populated in the right places automatically.

If this is done, this will save a lot of time, confusions and will help in preparation of more compatible reports.

    Thanks!

    Are you sure about this...........?????
What about Policy and Policy conditions??

e.g. Rice..... Unbranded it is Nil rated, branded it is 5%.......
e.g. Computers -- the descriptions are not fit for "consumption" in normal accounting nomenclature.

    Hi Amit!

Thanks for your reply. I very well understand your query, thats why my question said "Creation of Groups" based on HSN Code List not "Stock Items" Branded and Unbranded Rice will have seperate Inventory Group. For this in excel sheet, our key column should be the "HSN +Description" rather than "HSN Code" and Group Name can be "HSN+Description" (this is because neither HSN nor Description alone is unique... eg branded and unbranded rice have same HSN, and Description text "others" has been used at many places in the table, but when we combine HSN+Description, we will get a unique key to address each Policy Condition, I guess!)

I am not sure as I have never used TDL neither am I expert in TDL Programming. Thats why I posed this question seeking help and advise if it is possible to do it through TDL or not. I would request the TDL experts to give it a thought.

    Thanks and regards!

If possible, send me the Excel file on kamdaramit@gmail.com and I will look at the probability of hardcoding the list to the main Tally.
