Any reason why tdl codes wouldn't work in tally version 5.0 and work in version 5.3.2 ?. When importing from excell file to tally

    Yes...It is incompatibility.........

Certain changes in CORE code of higher versions will not work on lower version, because it is not existing. You can modify the code as per your version to ensure it works.

A TDL code can work from tally 5.4 to Tally prime, it's all depend upon the availability of existing features and functions.
Compiled TDL i.e. TCP will only work after tally ERP 9 5.0. Below that you can not use compiled TCP simple code in text format can word in any tally.

It applies to compilation under "irreversible" format only.

If a TDL code (compiled or not) does not work, then it has to do with the TDL code/functions only..... in earlier versions some code will not work as it was not introduced at that time.

If you compile Irreversible then it will not work below release 5.4
But you compile regular tcp so that it can work with lower version of Tally
